What a sweet weekend we've had with Oma! There's nothing new to report on her health, we will run the other two tests this week and hopefully have more answers on staging and treatment.
In the mean time, we are just thoroughly enjoying our time together. There were about 40 of us here this weekend, celebrating her, looking at old pictures and videos, praying for her and just soaking in each moment. All 5 of Oma's kids, her 3 oldest great-granddaughters and all 5 granddaughters happened to be here as well - we're still working on getting all 10 grandsons here at the same time ;)
This morning, 45 of us gathered here at Brad & Barb's to bring church to Oma :) We all got to share things that we love about her and ways we want to be more like her. She was overjoyed with the time of worship and sharing, scripture and singing her favorite songs with the great-grandkids. Praising Jesus has always been one of Oma and Opa's very favorite things to do and it was a joy to be together this morning for our own family church. God is so good. I stood back crying as I watched my 84 year old grandma and my 2 year old daughter, Tessa singing together, "Bless the Lord, oh my soul. Worship His holy name." May that be our prayer - from the beginning of life to the end - may His name be praised.
We were singing "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and Oma shared with us that it was her family's theme song and something that they carried with them from Holland and all these decades later, she still holds that promise close.
Gary led the service for us and reminded us all that "You can pray and you can worry, but you can't do both at the same time." So that's what we ask of all of you - would you pray, when she comes to mind, would you pray for peace that passes understanding, pray for sweet joy that comes from being with those you love, pray that she continues to have no pain. We are so blessed to have this time with her and to have each other.
